Martinsburg Civitan Club celebrates 60 Years

December 3,  2024 

The Martinsburg Civilian Club recently celebrated 60 years. They invited Berkeley County Meals on Wheels, Dianne Waldron, executive director to give a presentation about our 53 year old program. The club collected a huge donation for snow kit inventory for Meals on Wheels.

Pack Horse Ford Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) welcomed Meals on Wheels for the chapter’s meeting on Oct, 12, at the Shepherdstown Public Library.

Whalton awards final grants as EWVCF bids him farewell

 Friends, colleagues and associates gathered Tuesday afternoon at the Martinsburg Roundhouse to say a final thank you to Michael Whalton, as he officially stepped down as executive director of the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF). The first presentation went to Meals on Wheels of Berkeley County, while the next was presented to the Boys & Girls Club of the Eastern Panhandle. Berkeley Senior Services also received a check, as did CCAP/Loaves and Fishes. Representatives from each of these organizations were in awe of the unexpected grants. >>READ IT HERE<<

Meals on Wheels to host open house as it seeks volunteer drivers

Apr 21, 2024 

Each day of the week, over 150 volunteers for Berkeley County Meals on Wheels provide hundreds of homebound residents throughout the county with a hot meal.

In response to a growing need for volunteer drivers, the organization will host an open house from 11 a.m.-noon Wednesday from at its facility at 116 E. King St. in downtown Martinsburg.  >>READ IT HERE<<

VOC-AG Students Spearhead Garden Project to Benefit Local Organizations

March 31st, 2024

Hedgesville High School Vocational Agriculture (VOC-AG) students held a special media event for the opening of a new outdoor garden, a 1.5-acre area that will be used to grow several varieties of root vegetables to benefit the Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission and Berkeley County Meals on Wheels.   >>READ IT HERE<<

Senior Care Nonprofits Recieve $31,000 in Grants

January 10th, 2024

In late 2023, the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation (EWVCF) awarded $31,000 in grants from the Kings Daughters Senior Citizens Charitable Fund. Six organizations received grants to boost their programs providing care to the elderly living in Berkeley, Jefferson and Morgan countie >>READ IT HERE<<
